Voice help

ATC calls are spoken by your browser's built-in voices. If you hear no sound or a voice you don't like:

  1. Tick Speak ATC calls on the setup screen and check your device volume isn't muted.
  2. Choose a voice in the ATC voice list (British voices are listed first). If the list is empty, install a voice below, then close and reopen the browser.

Best option: Microsoft Edge (Windows / Mac)

Edge includes free online British voices such as Microsoft Sonia Online (Natural) and Libby. They need an internet connection, and sound much more natural.

Windows 10 / 11 (any browser)

Settings → Time & language → Speech → Manage voices → Add voices → English (United Kingdom) → install Hazel or Susan (female). On Windows 11 you can also add the Natural voices via Settings → Accessibility → Narrator → Add natural voices.

Google Chrome

Chrome on Windows uses the Windows voices above. On other systems it may offer Google UK English Female (online).

macOS

System Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → System voice → Manage Voices… → English (United Kingdom) → download Serena or Kate.

iPhone / iPad

Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices → English → United Kingdom → download a female voice.

Android

Settings → System → Languages & input → Text-to-speech output → install voice data for English (United Kingdom).

Tip: you can always read the ATC text on screen if no voice is available.

Syllabus coverage (CAP 2325 Appendix C)

All airfields, units and frequencies are fictional. Type your calls as you would speak them: numbers can be digits or words ("one zero one five"). Each transmission is checked for the required elements. Always verify phraseology against the current CAP 413, CAP 2325 and Safety Sense Leaflet 22 – this is a training aid, not the official examination.
